Autonomous Truck Mounted Howitzer Systems (ATMOS)

An initial batch of 18 Soltam Systems Autonomous Truck Mounted Howitzer Systems (ATMOS) was to be ordered by Israeli ministry of defense - funding permitting - sufficient to equip one Israel Defence Force (IDF) artillery regiment with three batteries, each batteries with six weapons.
An exhaustive series of firepower and mobility trials with a prototype ATMOS system was expected to complete by IDF in 2006.
The IDF  was likely to opt for a 155mm/39 cal system. IDF was offering the same ballistics as the US-supplied-BAS Systems, Ground Systems Division-M109A2/A3 Doher self-propelled howitzer which IDF used in large numbers.
The IDF ATMOS will use the elevating mass and 155mm/39 cal ordnance taken from the IDF`s existing in-service Soltem Systems towed artillery systems in oder to reduce the coasts.
Under a deal signed in 2004, on the rear of US-supplied American Truck Company will integrate the IDF ATMOS 155mm/39 cal systems 6*6 high-mobility truck chassis. Based on the Tatra T815 forward control truck, the IDF  has already taken delivery of over 300 American Truck Company 6*6 vehicle. It will offer the IDF a number of significant operational advantages, becouse the IDF vertion of the ATMOS 2000 will have a  similar range of firing of already deployed M109. Without the use of heavy equipment transporters it can be rapidly deployed countrywide.  that means it has a greater strategic mobility. when comparing with other versions Its wheeled chassis will also require less maintenance. these things contribute to much lower life cycle coasts. Also the ATMOS 2000 has a smaller crew than the M109.
Soltem System was marketing ATMOS with 155mm 39-,45- and 52-cal barrels for the export market. For the ATMOS 2000 system, a number of undisclosed export market customers have already have placed orders. Solem System has recently exported 155mm towed artillery system to Cameroon (18), India (60), Slovenia (18), and Uganda (18) according to the US Register of Conventional Arms.
Soltem Systems, developed the ATROM system integrated in the rear of the ROMAN 26.360 DFAEG 6*6 chassis in order  to meet the operational requirements of Romania. The system consists of a 155mm/52-cal barrel, which enables a maximum range of 41km to be achieved when firing extended range ammunition.
ATMOS is also fitted with the same similar computerized fire-control system as integrated into the Israel Military Industries/Aerostar 160mm LAROM multiple surface-to-surface rocket system which have been operational with Romanian armed forces for several years.
